Protein bars are a great way of keeping a handle on your snacking habits. Whether you're out running errands or at home and keep reaching for the secret biscuit stash, protein bars are not only filling but they're full of nutritious ingredients, especially this tasty savoury nut and seed bar!
We teamed up with our friends at Whitworths, using their moreish new Shots range to make this new recipe. By making your own protein bars, you know exactly what's in them and you can be sure you're not filling your body with any unwanted preservatives or colourings. Give it a go!
Protein Bar Ingredients
1 scoop Pea Protein Unflavoured
3 Whitworths Shots Nuts with a hint of smoke
½ cup rolled oats
1/2 cup mixed seeds
1/4 cup hemp hearts or sesame seeds
1/4 cup flaxseed meal (ground flax seeds)
4 tbsp pure maple syrup
2 tbsp water
½ tsp cayenne chili powder
½ tsp mineral or smoked salt
¼ tsp garlic powder
Protein Bar Method
-
Preheat oven to 180°C degrees. Line a baking tray with parchment paper.
-
In a mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients. Mix well to coat.
-
Fill the lined baking tray with the wet mixture and flatten, pressing firmly. Place in oven on middle rack and bake for 25-30 minutes. Once done, let it cool to harden.
-
Slice in half, and then cut each half into bars. Enjoy!
Because these bars are savoury, you can either eat them on their own or dip them into homemade hummus or tzatziki dip! Give them a try and tag us in your photos across Facebook and Instagram when you #ExploreSomethingNew.
